Basic Body Lotion #2

by Roma Christensen

The addition of Cocoa Butter in this recipe is remarkable due to the fact that Cocoa Butter naturally contains about 5 units of Vitamin E per ounce.  It is well absorbed by the skin and because it is solid at room temperature it is useful as a thickener in lotions.  It is highly emollient and protects the skin well.  However, it is not recommended for use on oily skin or for use on the face as it can promote acne.  But the yummy natural fragrance of chocolate is readily accepted and even adored by many.

Personally, I love this lotion!

·          1 Tablespoon Cocoa Butter

·          5 Ounces plus 1 teaspoon Distilled Water

·          2 Ounces Sweet Almond Oil

·          2 Teaspoons Emulsifying Wax

·          1/8 Teaspoon Citric Acid

·          1/4 Dram Fragrance or Essential Oil

·          1/4 Teaspoon Germaben II (optional)

Directions: Place all ingredients in 4-Cup Glass

Measuring Cup.  Heat in microwave until all ingredients are melted.  Don’t overheat!  Remove from microwave and allow to cool for a few minutes.  Blend with hand blender for 1 minute.  Add  Fragrance or Essential Oil and Germaben II, Blend again.  Pour into clean Lotion Bottle.  Makes 8 oz
